Gemini Is Like Pineapples Awesome Month T-Shirt

I’ve used the Gemini Is Like Pineapples Awesome Month T-Shirt cheap little tree for over 30 years, but this year I decided I’d like a potted Albany woolly bush (Adenanthos sericeus) and hope to get a couple of years out of it before it is too big for a pot. They’re so soft and lovely, and an excellent Christmas Tree shape when they’re small.

What is it with the Gemini Is Like Pineapples Awesome Month T-Shirt and fake snow and ice anyway?? I have a friend from Canada who is freaked out by Christmas in Australia as it seems bizarre to her when she is used to real snow, thirty degrees below zero, being forced to spend most of the time indoors – in the northern hemisphere they really needed to do something to while away the winter hours and keep warm. I think the origins of the tree are in some ancient celtic ritual but why do we continue with it? Why do we persist with this nostalgic nonsense in our scorched and burnt part of the world? Lets just have a holiday and a bit of a festival that celebrates the good things about summer – less clothing, yummy fruits, water (when its available) and aircon.
