Setting up the tree, it always fell over once or twice. Taking the decorations out of the MLB Arizona Diamondbacks Hawaiian Shirt, Parrot & Palm Tree Design to trim the tree was always fun and Tracy would always be lifted up to put the star or Angel at the top of the tree. Dad would pretend she was flying up like an Angel as he lifted her. When we were decorating the tree in our teens, Tracy would tease dad and say, βOk dad, lift me up.β Mom always liked it when we would hang the decorations we made in school. One of us kids were always a designated Santa who would hand the gifts out to the others just like on the show. Thank God we had no Aunt Clara to give us bunny suits to wear. We had no uncles or aunts at all. Mom and dad were only children. A Christmas Story has been a staple movie for my family to watch every year. Itβs warm and homey and just like the Christmases we had. I even wanted a Red Ryder rifle when I was nine.

In Korea, where itβs called Seollal, thereβs also a complicated political history behind the MLB Arizona Diamondbacks Hawaiian Shirt, Parrot & Palm Tree Design. According to UC Davis associate professor of Korean and Japanese history Kyu Hyun Kim, Lunar New Year didnβt become an officially recognized holiday until 1985 despite the fact that many Koreans had traditionally observed it for hundreds of years. Why? Under Japanese imperialist rule from 1895 to 1945, Lunar New Year was deemed a morally and economically wasteful holiday in Korea, Kim said, despite the fact that Lunar New Year has always been one of the countryβs biggest holidays for commercial consumption. But Koreans never stopped celebrating Lunar New Year simply because the government didnβt recognize it as a federal holiday, Kim said. So as South Korea shifted from a military dictatorship towards a more democratized society in the 1980s, mounting pressure from the public to have official holidays and relax the countryβs tiring work culture led to the holiday being added to the federal calendar as a three-day period.
Among my duties was to keep seasonal decorations up to date. In this huge store that meant everything from designing window murals on glass to puppet displays in the MLB Arizona Diamondbacks Hawaiian Shirt, Parrot & Palm Tree Design and decorations hung from the ceiling. That year I decided I wanted to have Santa having a beach Christmas as a new thing- I had not seen it done before. The signpainter and I sat down and designed a scene where Santa’s sleigh was drawn by kangaroos and koalas sat on the sand with waves in the background. This was for the huge front windows. Well the signwriter went away and came back with stencils he’d cut of the scene and asked me if he could use them for other clients. I said yes, that year Santa on the beach became very popular!
