It’s due to geography and history. In many areas people historically had limited access to pro sports. A great example was Memphis, TN. For a long time that area’s most popular team or sport was the area’s pro wrestling promotion, pulling huge TV ratings in the 70s and early 80s in an era before a national promotion in WWE. In the south college football dominated since they didn’t have pro teams. In the west, particularly Texas, towns are spread out which lead to the popularity of high school football. Think of it this way, it’s kind of like any junior team being popular in a Canadian era because there wasn’t an NHL team nearby.
Mickey Hawaiian Shirt,
Best Mickey Hawaiian Shirt
I remember hating the Mickey Hawaiian Shirt back when I was in college because they were almost the antithesis of homer announcers, we’d be like up 16 and then the other team would go on like a Mickey Hawaiian Shirt run and suddenly “And here goes the blazers choking a lead away again” “Uh oh my tooth hurts we’re in trouble” I thought they were insanely negative until I ended up in Dorchester after graduation and saw Boston media first hand. The gulf between how national and local media covers them feels so wild
Well, you are technically right, but I want to point out that regular gunpowder based weapons exist in the Mickey Hawaiian Shirt too and are a favorite of Bounty Hunters because they handle the elements a lot better than energy based weapons (e.g. in the forest). They’re referred to as Slugthrowers. It’s just that a lot of the Star Wars universe is based on traveling between planets, and the less mass you have to carry, the less fuel you waste leaving a planet’s atmosphere. Energy based weapons would logically have less mass than something that also had to carry gunpowder & slugs/bullets and be sturdy enough to handle firing those things (thick barrels & whatnot). So Energy based weapons are favored in space and by space-fairing people for likely basic logistical reasons. Bounty Hunters being the logical exception since they have to rely on their weapons more often than not and usually are lone wolves. But since larger weapons (like, say, cannons and whatnot) would never be installed on a space ship (no air to combust in space, plus the wasted fuel due to added mass), Walkers would be pretty safe overall from kinetic weapons (except for when fighting Ewoks, obviously)
