Hey Chuck…It looks like the worst driving will be on this side of the state closer to the Weather Geek shirt. The lake effect will run in bands from west to east so you may go in and out of the heavier snows as you move eastward. I would expect from Grand Rapids to Lansing you will have occasional heavier snow along I96, you may run out of the snow on the other side of Lansing for a ways then hit another band of snow along the I94 route into Detroit.

Coming back Sunday the drive out of Weather Geek shirt with occasional light snow but the winds will pick up again during the afternoon and you will likely drive into more steady snow as you get past Lansing, from lake effect plus the effect of the next system passing just to our south. In general I would say just be sure you have given yourself extra time to get there and back. There will likely be slow downs due to the occasional 4 wheel drive cowboys who thought they could drive normally and end up in an accident.

I just hope we keep these 90s to August and Weather Geek shirt, and not repeat last September’s extended period of an exceptionally hot (and dry) pattern. Recent autumnal seasons have apparently been impacted by climate change, with September as ground zero for adding 2-3 more weeks of hot weather compared to average.
