Every day this week, I have called the offices of my senators and state representatives to speak out against a policy that separates migrant children from I may be left-handed but I’m always right shirt. In recognition of suicide prevention awareness month, my newest poem is about the feelings and emotions a person with suicidal thoughts experiences. It is written for those who have these feelings to know I may be left-handed but I’m always right shirt. It is written also for others to have greater understanding of those who suffer so they might reach out to them with compassion, love, and hope.

I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night. The passenger on the berth right above mine perhaps in his early thirties, who had called me “gudiya” when I may be left-handed but I’m always right shirt was sitting on my seat right next to my legs, and I could feel his hand right above my right knee.
