I had a dog taught from puppyhood to associate a vocal command (lie down) with a hand command (flat hand chest high lowered to waist high). Then took away the 4th Of July Rottweiler American Flag Shirt, but he retained the lie down/hand chest to waist association. If you can teach your dog “sit”, “stay”, as long as it’s taught in conjunction with hand commands, it’s easy! If you can’t teach him to “sit” or “stay” on vocal command, well, sorry, it’s not gonna happen with hand signals either.
