The Tampa Bay Rays are opening their doors—and their storage closets—for a one-of-a-kind charity event. Ahead of planned repairs at Tropicana Field, the Rays will host a Pre-Construction Charity Yard Sale on Saturday, May 31, iA simple slip of the tongue from St. Louis Cardinals center fielder Victor Scott II has evolved into one of baseball’s most unexpected and electrifying team mottos.

“I said the word ‘Yungry’ when I meant to say youthful and hungry… but that’s kind of what this group is,” Scott explained. That accidental phrase has now become the rallying cry for one of MLB’s youngest and most exciting teams.

According to Baseball Reference, the Cardinals boast the seventh-youngest roster in the league, averaging just 27.2 years old. Leading the youth wave are standouts like Masyn Winn (23), Jordan Walker (22), Iván Herrera (24), and of course, Victor Scott II (24).

To celebrate the “Yungry” movement, Scott II will host a launch party on Saturday, May 24, at 6 p.m. at Arch Apparel’s Ballpark Village store, immediately following the Cardinals’ home game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Fans can expect the debut of two new “Yungry” apparel designs, plus giveaways, autographs, photo opportunities, ticket raffles, and even a preview of Scott’s new music, released under his stage name, Argo.

The “Yungry” collection includes shirts, hoodies, hats, and crewnecks, each featuring bold “Yungry” lettering with a subtle “VS2” logo underneath—a nod to Scott himself.

Scott has been electric for the Cardinals this season. Named the starting center fielder out of spring training, he’s making his mark with speed, defense, and consistency. Through 44 games, he’s slashing .271/.344/.375 with two home runs, 13 stolen bases, and 18 RBIs, currently tied for sixth in MLB in stolen bases. On defense, the Cardinals lead all of Major League Baseball in Outs Above Average (OAA), with Scott II topping the team at six.

The Cardinals currently sit 27-21, just one game behind the division-leading Cubs. With 13 wins in their last 15 games, the team is carving out its identity and clubhouse culture—and it seems that culture is now officially “Yungry.”
