ter a challenging recruiting week for Penn State, the Nittany Lions could be on the verge of a big win with a major defensive lineman set to make his commitment.

Damari Simeon, a top 2026 defensive lineman from New Jersey and a long-standing Penn State target, announced he will reveal his decision on Friday, June 27. His top four schools include Penn State, Michigan, Texas, and Ohio State.

Penn State was one of the first programs to offer Simeon, extending their offer back in June 2024—making it his third Division I offer after Syracuse and Temple. Since then, the St. Augustine Prep standout has soared up the rankings, now rated a four-star prospect. He currently sits as the No. 26 defensive lineman and No. 201 overall player in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Simeon has made four official visits, with Penn State welcoming him twice—more than any other school. His other visits include Michigan, Texas, and Ohio State, showing strong interest from these powerhouse programs.

As of now, Penn State has two defensive tackles committed in the Class of 2026: three-star prospects Isaac Chukwurah and Alex Haskell. Head coach James Franklin’s 20 verbal commitments place the Nittany Lions eighth nationally and third in the Big Ten this recruiting cycle.

With Simeon’s decision just days away, Penn State hopes to get back on track and add another key piece to their defensive front.
