Top-ranked Duke and the Atlantic Coast Conference have assured the NCAA Tournament selection committee that freshman standout Cooper Flagg will be available for March Madness, according to NCAA senior vice president for basketball Dan Gavitt.

Gavitt shared the update on CBS ahead of Sunday’s reveal of the 68-team field. Flagg, a 6-foot-9 forward, had suffered a left ankle sprain during Duke’s ACC Tournament quarterfinal victory over Georgia Tech on Thursday.

The freshman sensation, recently named both ACC Player of the Year and ACC Freshman of the Year by The Associated Press, was forced to sit out Friday’s semifinal matchup against rival North Carolina. Following that game, head coach Jon Scheyer announced Flagg would also miss Saturday night’s ACC Championship game against No. 13 Louisville.

With his status now confirmed for the NCAA Tournament, Flagg is poised to make a significant impact as Duke heads into the national spotlight, adding even more intrigue to the Blue Devils’ title run.
