With Pro Bowl tight ends Travis Kelce and George Kittle recently hosting their annual “Tight End University,” it didn’t take long for former All-Pro wideout Chad Johnson to launch a version tailored to his position group. Dubbed the “Wideout Workshop,” the event gathered some of the NFL’s best receivers for skill work, mentorship, and camaraderie.
Among the notable attendees was Cincinnati Bengals star Tee Higgins, who shares a close bond with Johnson and famously wore his iconic No. 85 jersey when he first entered the league.
Before taking the field to sharpen his craft alongside other elite wideouts, Higgins sat down with Clemson Tigers on SI to reflect on his alma mater’s ongoing success.
With the 2025 college football season around the corner, Clemson boasts three players projected among the top 10 prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft. For Higgins, the program’s reputation for consistently producing NFL-ready talent traces back to one man: head coach Dabo Swinney.
“It’s that Clemson water. It’s that lake over there,” Higgins joked. “Really, it’s Coach Swinney and the process he has for his players. If they buy in and follow the process, there’s no doubt they’ll make it to the league.”
As a former five-star recruit, Higgins had his pick of powerhouse programs. He explained that Swinney’s players-first approach was the deciding factor in choosing Clemson and remains a lasting influence on his career.
“He left a big impact on me. It was a no-brainer coming out of high school,” Higgins said. “He’s a players’ coach, players first. That’s what I wanted going into college, and I’m pretty sure he’s still the same.”
