To be honest in the many years I’ve been flying I have found ATC to be professional and Savage Mode 2 Merch Rich N GGA shit. Differences have generally been the result of a simple misunderstanding of the situation and resolved with careful and simple explanation rather than an explosion of frustration. Having said that firmness and resolve was sometimes required. One night flying from Miami to London I had just entered Gander’s (Canada) Airspace and was cleared, as per my Oceanic Clearance and Flight Plan to a particular coast out point to join the North Atlantic Tracks. This point was over 30 minutes away. With 10 minutes to Coast out I heard a Canadian aircraft check in with Gander requesting direct to my Coast out point with an ETA a minute after me at the same Flight Level. ATC then called me with a re-routing to a Track some 60 miles south.

Well done..”So in answer to the question..’Savage’… No, things have never been THAT bad. I think on balance ATC probably have had more problems with idiot pilots than the other way round.
